Kazuki Yamane / Master calligarapher
Born in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, in 1982.

Born in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, in 1982, he has been fascinated by the beauty of Japanese calligraphy since childhood.
He began studying calligraphy at an early age under Kozue Ogura and later studied Japanese calligraphy at Hanazono University. After graduating, he moved to Australia to explore the world of calligraphy from a new perspective.
During his time in Australia, he created handwritten signs and menus for restaurants and cafés, as well as hosting calligraphy workshops and live performances.
Since 2006, he has worked on numerous films and TV dramas, creating calligraphy for historical letters, signs, and other scenes, as well as providing guidance on traditional movements and gestures.
He also launched his “Japanese Calligraphy Workshop” for international visitors in 2006. Since then, he has shared the beauty of Japanese calligraphy with guests from around the world through workshops held in collaboration with hotels, ryokans, guesthouses, and travel companies.
His workshops go beyond simply learning how to write Japanese characters. Participants are introduced to the history and meaning behind kanji, the movement of the brush, and the graceful gestures—known as shosa—that are an important part of Japanese calligraphy.
Through this unique approach, he encourages each participant to experience calligraphy with all five senses and create a piece that expresses their own personality and connection to Japanese culture.
