No previous experience is needed. Our classes are suitable for beginners, and your instructor will guide you step by step through the basics of Japanese calligraphy.

3. How long does the calligraphy experience take?
All three of our calligraphy courses last 60 minutes. One hour is enough to enjoy a meaningful cultural experience and discover the beauty of Japanese calligraphy.

4. How much does the calligraphy experience cost?
Prices start from ¥8,000 per person for a 60-minute experience. The price varies depending on the course you choose.
5. What will I make during the class?
You can create your own Japanese calligraphy artwork on a traditional shikishi board, a Japanese fan, or a T-shirt.
To make your choice easy, we offer different courses based on what you would like to create. Simply choose your favorite item first, then select the course that suits you best!
6. Can I choose my own Japanese character?
Yes! Your instructor will help you choose a kanji character based on your name, interests, personal values, or a word that has special meaning to you.
7. Can I take my artwork home?
Absolutely! You can take your finished artwork home on the same day as a unique souvenir of your visit to Kyoto.
8. Can I join the class by myself?
Yes! Individual participants are welcome. Even if you are travelling alone, you can enjoy a memorable introduction to Japanese calligraphy.
9. Where is the calligraphy studio located?
Our studio is located in the Shijo-Karasuma area of central Kyoto, just a 3-minute walk from Shijo Station and Karasuma Station. It is conveniently located in the heart of Kyoto, making it easy to visit while exploring the city.

You don’t need to bring anything. All the calligraphy tools and materials you need for the experience are provided.
